How to run a hoover with a power inverter
The New Bladeless Fan From Dyson
James Dyson, having already invented innovative versions of the hoover, hand drier, tolley, hand drier and a myriad of others, now gives us his latest invention; the bladeless fan.
Although he officially launched the product in 2009, it was only available to buy a couple of months ago and already looks like being a massive success. The fan works by pulling in air through the base and forcing it out of small slits in the the circular section. This allows the fan to keep a contast, solid blast of cool air despite the lack of blades.
With no blades, the fan is extremely safe and would stop those worries about having left the desk fan running when there are children in the room.
The only major downside to the machine appears to be the price tag, as it retails are around the £200
mark. However you do have to pay for quality, and with the summer being extremely hot and portable air conditioners costing a lot more than that, the price doesn't appear to have stopped consumers worldwide snapping up the new invention. According to retailers John Lewis and M&S, over one third of all fans sold in the last month were dyson ones, with sales increasing nearly four times since the hot weather began. It's not especially shocking either given how hot it is; the fan i'm using would just be blowing around warm air if i didn't have my 12v dehumidifier my office at home would quickly become impossible to work in!
Other benefits to the new fan include an efficiency level of 15 times greater than a normal desk fan, making it an ideal solution in the current cultural, economical and ecological climate. The bladeless fan is also much easier to clean, making it perfect for most family homes.
Dyson did have to defend the invention however, after it was suggested that a Japanese company had come up with the idea 30 years earlier. Despite this however, the new fan has been released to both public and critical acclaim and looks set to be the gadget of summer 2010. All i'm after now is Mr. Dyson to design a good air purification system, as mine is always breaking, and we're set!
