Frequently Asked Questions...
My carpet shampooer has lost suction?
Ok, here's what I know. 1. There is no visible clog, although I haven't completely dismantled it yet. 2. The regular part (with the brush and all) does not pick up water. But the attachment hose still works. 3. I haven't dropped it, or anything like that. Put it up after using it last, and it worked fine. 4. I have no owner's manual because I got it used. It's a Hoover Steam Vac. Couldn't tell ya which model.
So any ideas? What might cause it to lose suction? The motor is running fine, it's putting water DOWN just like normal. No clogs...
I just found this tiny little wire filter on the bottom. It's like a red thing you pull out to clean. It was pretty linty. Doesn't seem like enough to keep the entire thing from having suction though?
Answer:
make sure that you use a vacuum cleaner just before you use a steam cleaner on your carpet. make sure that the recovery tank lid is properly secured and on tight. you will lose suction if it is not. also, be sure to clean out, with the tool provided, the smokey clear plastic suction inlet on the front of the machine. reach up in there and get all the debris out. dirty job but necessary. i also poor some water on the tile floor in my kitchen and suck it up with the hoover after i scrape out the crud and it will help to keep that smokey clear plastic suction area cleaned out. you can call 1-330-499-9499 or Hoover.com on the web and they will answer your questions. good luck.
