I Do Not Like To Get Down On My Hands And Knees
I find that I used to get a lot of greasy stains on my floors and there were 2 ways to get rid of them. The first was to use strong chemicals or bleach. The second method was to get down on my hands and knees with a scrubbing brush after using my Numatic Henry.
Now, as the required detergents are not very safe in a home environment, especially with the children crawling all over the floor, and I had better things to do than scrub the floor, I decided to try one of the steam floor cleaners.
The first thing that I will say is that the one I bought is really designed to be used on hard surfaces like vinyl, laminate or hard wood flooring rather than on carpets. It just so happens that these are the areas where the dirt is more visible so I think that they are ideal in the kitchen, bathroom and hall.
Mine is quite small as it is just for use in our small home but they can be bought in a lot of different sizes if you have a big house or want to use them in an office environment.
The way a steam cleaner works is by heating water to the point where it becomes vapor. This is then pushed out of the cleaner onto the surface at a great speed. The steam then turns back to water and as it does so it collects the bits of dirt, scuff marks and grime and sucks them back into a separate chamber. Not all machines do this last part and you still have to mop up the water to get the surface cleaned fully.
As long as you make sure that your machine will heat the water to at least 260 degrees fahrenheit, it is particularly good for getting rid of bacteria, dust mites and other such pests that can be so harmful to your health. People say that their asthma is eased after switching to steam cleaning.
They come with a comprehensive range of attachments to help you and some even have one which you can use to get the creases out of as well as clean clothes, curtains and upholstery. It is also a good idea to find one which can give a variable pressure of the steam.
I have now put away my mop and bucket and have a lot more time available to spend with my husband and children in what has become a much happier and healthier household.
